5 AMAZING YEARS!!!

We were in Texas for our 5 year anniversary.

We ended up going to Sea World for free which was so fun!!

After Sea World we went back to Garets parents house,

changed and headed downtown San Antonio.

Yes we both got kids meals for our lunch to save room for our delicious dinner!

For our night out we went to Fogo De Chao,

a brazilian restaurant. It is kind of like Rodizio Grill in Utah,

anyway we decided to get a dessert and they guy asked if we were

celebrating anything so Garet told him it was our 5 yr anniversary.

They brought out this yummy dessert and on the edge of the plate it said

Happy Anniversary in strawberry syrup.

Than to top it off they gave it to us for free!!!

After our amazing dinner we walked around the River Walk,

the Alamo and than Garet surprised me and took me on a carriage ride

around San Antonio in the Cinderella carriage!!!

I have the best husband a girl could ask for!!

We had the chance to go to San Antonio for Christmas. I have some pics but I don't really want to post anymore than this. It was a great year and a sentimental one.

Garets sister Barb left on the 28 of Dec to serve a mission and Dalton Garets brother is in Basic Training right now and will hopefully be leaving in July for a mission, so it was one of the last ones we will all be together for a while.

Ok I know I am no good at this blog stuff but I will try and be better. Our first trip since being here we went to Panama Beach and while we were there we decided to hit up WonderWorks which is across the street from Ripley's Believe It or Not but we didn't have time for both.

We had a lot of fun but just wait this weekend is gonna be AWESOME so stay tuned for the next post!!!!

So on our way to Alabama we stopped in San Antonio to be with the Coopers. We got there Saturday night and left Monday around 1115 or so. We had a lot of fun while we were there, Garet got to spend more time with his brother Dalton and I got to hang out with Mama Cooper. Here are a few pictures from the short time we were there.

First when we got there we went to Chuys the BEST mexican restaurant but we forgot to take the camera.

Reno Air Races Sept 2011

Last time we went to the Reno Air Races was Sept 2007. We have wanted to go again but with Garet being in school its been almost impossible to go but this year we planned to go since no more school for Garet and we were moving a week or so later. Garets dad and brother were in town from Texas so they came with us.

If anyone has heard of George Preddy good for you, if not here ya go!! George was an American ace credited with 26.83 enemy air-to-air kills, ranking him as the top P-51 Mustang ace of WW2 and 6th on the list of all-time highest scoring American aces. On August 6, 1944 he claimed 6 German Luftwaffe fighters in a single sortie. George was killed by "friendly fire" on the morning of December 25, 1944 at age 25!!!

All of his aircraft was named Cripes A' Mighty, so in honor of George, Garet had to take a picture to be just like George!!

As we were looking at pictures we looked over and saw the one and only..... Col C.E. 'Bud' Anderson. If you do not know who he is shame on you!!! He is a triple ace of WW2. Yeager once called him ''The best fighter pilot I ever saw."

He is the highest living ace. This made Garets year!!

As most of you have heard there was an accident and Jimmy Leeward was flying The Galloping Ghost and crashed. RIP Jimmy and all those who were taken from us.

We met Steve Hinton Jr. the pilot of Strega!! 25 years old National Unlimited Gold Class Champion.

Our friend SFC Kibler, Garet and I went shooting up in Bountiful. Garet brought his rifles and Kibler brought his so we had a great time! We had rifles from WW2 the Mosin-Nagant, K98 Mauser, M1 Garand, and an AR 15 (which obviously is not a WW2 rifle). My favorite obviously was the AR15 cause it doesn't kick but I loved shooting all of them and yes my shoulder is sore!!

4th of July

Garet and I went to Logan for the 4th but we ended up being there on the 1st and 2nd because of Garets work. Friday night we got KFC than went to the Stadium, Diamond Rio was playing, we wanted to buy tickets but we have seen them a few times and wanted to spend time with Garets family and we still got to hear them while sitting outside the stadium. The fireworks were really good actually, we went to Stadium of Fire last year with a friend and I think Logan actually is a good rival for the fireworks (at least this year).

On the 2nd we went to Garets Aunt and Uncles and had a nice bbq with them and his cousins. Sam, Tom and Nate had there turn with the Swenson side so it was nice to hang out with them. For some reason we don't have a picture of Greg or Michelle. Greg had to work Friday night and Saturday but was at least able to have lunch with us.

Wow, It is finally here and over! It is now official, Garet graduated from Weber State University Magna Cum Laude and commissioned as a 2 LT in the Army going Aviation, which means we will be going to Ft Rucker Alabama for flight school where he will fly Apache Helicopters!!

I am so proud of everything Garet has accomplished! I couldn't be happier for him, I knew he could do it! He has worked so hard while going to nursing school, working, ROTC, and drilling with his aviation unit all at the same time!

His parents flew in Thursday night and went straight to Logan so we got to see them Friday at graduation. As soon as graduation was over we drove straight over to the Wildcat Theater and had rehearsal for the commissioning ceremony.

His grandfather is a retired Major in the Air Force and Garet asked him if he would swear him in... It was an amazing experience!! After, Garets mom Shari and I pinned his rank on him. His first salute was a good friend of his from his unit, this was his first time ever being asked to do the first salute so with his grandfather swearing him in and than his friend doing the first salute it was quite an amazing experience!!

I know its November and everyone writes about what they are thankful for and the blessings in there lives! I don't know if anyone reads this or if I just put it out there for me but this morning I am feeling very blessed! These past few weeks have been a little chaotic around here. Garet is finishing his last few weeks of school, working hard for us and we moved last week.

I don't stress very much, I never really have but when I do stress it really gets me. I hate clutter, I hate things not clean the way I like them, and I hate not having control over some things. With this past week being as crazy as it has been I started to get down and upset over things I really have no control over. I don't blog very often, I don't have anything too exciting to say but that doesn't stop me from reading other peoples blogs... Anyway, we got our internet hooked up thanks to my amazing husband and his patience so I decided to read peoples blogs. I started with a good friend of mine who wrote some amazing words about her experience becoming a mother than went through a few others and ended with another one I don't read very often. She had posted an amazing video that I stole hence the last post and I really started to think. I ended up going to the website she got the video from and watching some other amazing videos. As crazy as this last week has been I have been so blessed. My dad and my sister in law helped us move which I am so grateful for there help, we got a month free of rent which is a HUGE blessing for us, and I have the opportunity to be with my sister today when she needs someone to help her!! Than tomorrow my sister in law is coming down to hang out and have her big brother change her oil for her.

I am so blessed to have an amazing husband who loves me with every thing he has, he does so much for us and I hate when he gets grouchy which comes with everything on his plate right now but he tries and works so hard so we can have a good life.

I am so blessed to have the gospel in my life. When I sometimes lose sight of where I need to be I know where I can turn. I know my Heavenly Father is there for me and loves me and really is watching over me.

I am grateful for my friends and family who love me and care for me.

Anyway I just thought I would throw that out there. Hope everyone has a great month and remembers to be thankful for the small and simple things.

Ok I know this is kind of long but oh well... So my boss took a few of us girls to Disneyland and Universal Studios so here are a few pics. I didn't get to take a ton of them since you aren't supposed to take pictures on rides which I did a couple times but they didn't turn out the best. Also the last few pictures are from February when I went to Vegas with my sister and her girls for a cheer competition and than Garet and I went to the Aquarium in Sandy and pet some sting rays. Sorry this is such a random post but at least its something!!

For September 11 we went up to Peach Days for the car show, they usually have some good Hot Rods and Rat Rods and this year they had only a few and none were really awesome so we didn't take pics.

After at Weber State University the ROTC was asked to go out on the field and hold a flag while the National Anthem was being played. We (Jake and Alaira) wanted to leave after that but Garet wanted to do push ups every time Weber got points, needless to say they did 3 push ups and than we decided to leave after the 1st quarter.

So my family got together a couple Sundays ago and met at West Jordan park for a little family picnic. My brother Dave and his girlfriend Mel came up from St George and a few people went hiking, since I had surgery 2 months ago and have only been out of my cast for about 3 weeks I didn't go. A couple of my sisters brought water balloons and were planning on having a water balloon toss and instead while they were trying to fill them up everyone else decided to start throwing them. I didn't want to get wet so I pulled out the camera and took a few shots and hung out by my brother so no one would get us wet.

She doesn't love Utah or really even like it right now so since we just had a long weekend we went up and got her and brought her back down to hang out with us. We ended up going to Temple Square since she hasn't been there for a long time.. since Garet and I got married but that was just for our wedding so we ended going to hang out there. We had a great time and I hope Barb liked hanging out with her big brother. We love you Barbie!!

Well since I haven't been on here forever I will just start with 2 weekends ago. Garet and I went to Ft Douglas for a field trip where we went to a private museum. This person has sooo much stuff from WW2 to if any of you know Garet you know he was in his own little Heaven. He has stuff from the Royal Army to German to American stuff. It was pretty cool.

Halloween we were at my sisters house. I was Marilyn Monroe and Garet was Ron Burgandy from Anchorman. Garet likes to call me his latina Marilyn.

Pumpkin Carving

Garet and I decided to carve pumpkins this year for Halloween. We did it 2 days after Garet got his wisdom teeth out so he is a bit swollen in soem of these and it was also pretty late. Hope you enjoy these.

Air show

So Garet and I try and hit an air show once a year. Last year was Reno and this year we went to Idaho to the Mountain Home Air Force Base. We had so much fun. Garet had governors day for army that day in the morning and than we came home and grabbed our bags and left for Idaho. I love taking road trips when its just me and Garet. We listen to talks on cd or books or dont listen to anything at all, just talk and enjoy each others company. One of the really cool things while we were in Idaho was that Garet and I started to talk to one of the pilots of the F-22 Raptor, CPT Patrick Williams is the youngest pilot to fly the F-22. The thunderbirds were there to do their demonstration and that is always amazing to watch. Also the Idago Guard was there and had the Apache Helicopter do there demonstration too. That was cool but it would have been better if it were Garets apache's doing it but maybe we can try and get one next year at Hill Air Force.

Porters Place

So Garet and I decided to take our friend Nels to Porters Place in Lehi. Nels ordered the Destroying Angel burger which is one pound burger. He ate the whole thing, even the fries and beans and than finished his drink which is kind of a smoothie and finished my pecan pie. Garet got the half pound which was still huge but not as big as Nels burger.

Pioneer Day

So Garet and I went to Ft Douglas for Pioneer Day and also to This is the Place Heritage Park since have never been there. It was pretty fun. W got some sweet deals at Ft Douglas and saw some pretty amazing things at the Heritage Park. We took some pics but they are not the best but oh well. Enjoy!

4th of July

Well for July 3rd we went to Centerville to watch Garets friend Robs band play. They were pretty awesome and than after they played a new band got up, I am not sure how many people have seen Sons of Provo but the guy who plays Danny was the next band up after Prospect Mali, it was pretty crazy to see Danny playing in Centerville Utah. Anyway after that we went to Robs parents to watch fireworks but than we couldnt see them so we went to a church say on blankets and than they were over, we were pretty bummed but oh well. Than on the 4th we went to Clearfield parade for the morning than drove up to Logan. We went to Grandma and Grandpa Swensons than went to the car show at the fairgrounds where it was extremely hot. After we had enough we went to Bear Lake and had lunch at the Motor Lodge than drove back to Logan. We got a call from Garets cousin saying they had there baby so we went up to the hospital and saw the baby for a minute. After the hospital we went and met my friend Quintin at the Willow Park Zoo than went back in to the fairgrounds where we went and saw the band Styx play. It was freakin AWESOME!! The only stupid thing was that they didnt even play Mr Roboto... How dumb is that but other than that it was an great show. Than we got to drive home so Garet could do homework on Saturday. All I can say is it was a long day.

Black hawk ride

So May 3rd I got to ride in a black hawk helicopter.. WOW Amazing. I dont think Lagoon will ever do justice even for the new ride. They flew us over to where the apaches have gunnery so they blow stuff up. After we watched the apaches for a few minutes (well thats what it seemed like) we got to go watch the Col. get graded on his flying, than we got back in the Black Hawk and flew over Kennecott Mine and than landed. What an experience, I hope I get to do it again someday!!

Finals week for Garet

Well Garet took his last final today and he is done for a few more weeks til he starts summer school. I am so proud of him, he has A's in all his classes except for his OB class where he has a B which is really good. We are pretty excited for him to be done with his first year of nursing school and he will have his LPN. YAY!! Also, he got a scholorship to pay for half of his summer school so we are very blessed and grateful.

St. George

Well I was in St George Thursday April 24 and just got back on Sunday the 27th from helping my sister who has twins Ethan and Alphonse who are almost a year old and Gabe who is almost 5, my sister had some surgery done where they went in and Catarized some of her endometriosis and she is trying to recover from that. WOW what a lot of work trying to take care of those little guys, I applaud all you moms out there. I knew it was a lot of work taking care of kids and being a stay at home mom but for real it is a lot of work. I think I wouldn't have mind it so much too if I had Garet there to help me, but he had school and work and wasn't able to come down, and also if I would have been able to ease into it, but the weekend is over and I am so excited to get back to sleeping all through the night and not running all over and worrying about where and what they are into. I have some pictures I took but I have to put them on later.
